Intouch Prison Ministry has had a wonderful year. All the praise and glory goes to our Lord Jesus Christ.
News Letter January 2002
Dear Brother’s & Sisters, The Lord has been good and We praise HIS wonderful name, THAT IS ABOVE EVERY NAME. This is just a little up-date on what is going on with Intouch Prison Ministry and Chapel of Hope of Brownwood for the year 2001. First of all I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone that has prayed, worked, and contributed in any way to what the Lord is doing. At the end of 2001, we gave all of the CO’s and staff a fruit bag with candy and nuts for Christmas. New Beginnings Church also gave all the clients a fruit bag, and toilet articles, which we helped hand out, and We contributed $100 to help purchase these items. Everyone envolved was greatly Blessed. We are doing the Experiencing God workbook 4 times a month. We also buy the Experiencing God workbooks for the clients, and do A Survival Kit for New Born Again Christians 4 times a month. Bible Study is held in 3 buildings 4 times a month, and we help the Chaplain with services on Sunday mornings. We are seeing God do a mighty work thru the Chaplain. We see men turning their life around and coming to know The Living God, Thru a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is a blessing to have a Chaplain that has a calling and not just a job. He is making a difference in the men’s lives and in our lives also. Three of us do 6 hours a week as building pastors taking part in AA and NA meeting, and serving as speakers when needed. We also do one on one counseling with the men. We do some 5th steps which is part of AA. We try to hold a 1 hour Bible study once a week in the buildings. We have contacts with about 1824 men in group sessions and 30 or more one on one contacts each month, with some 480 referral contacts to other ministries in our network through out Texas. We purchased 1000 Mother’s Day cards and 1000 Father’s Day cards for the clients. We also paid postage on 2000 Christmas cards that we got from the Salvation Army. We start trying to get the Christmas Cards around July of each year so each man gets at least four to send out. In May of last year, we did an all you can eat Bar-B-Q dinner for all of the staff, counselors, teachers, Warden and Prison staff.. We fed around 135+people, 10 gallons of beans, 10 gallons of potato salad, 12 briskets and all the stuff that goes with it. Plus we had a nice cake from Wal-Mart that had a Texas flag on it. IT WAS SURE GOOOOOOOD !!!!! We try to do this every year (in 2000 we did all you can eat stew and cornbread). This is good PR and it works. Everyone likes to eat! It is our prayer that our relationship with the CO’s and staff at T.R. Havins Unit continues to grow. . . and it has.
We are blessed to good relations with the CO’s and Staff. We were ask to talk to the Chaplin and warden at the Sayle’s Unit in Breckenridge, Texas about starting Intouch Prison Ministry there. Please be in prayer with us that God will raise up men and women that will step out of their comfort zone and do the Lord’s work. We tried to start a pilot Anger Management Program with the Brown County Parole Division. They serve 6 counties with an outstanding number of parolees. This program is written by Mr. Jim Daniels of San Antonio, Texas. Bro. Jim is also Chaplain for Bexar Co.Detention Center. All the people that were going to help us moved. We will try again this year. We are also wanting to start going into the new City and County Law Enforcement Center here in Brownwood. It has just opened. We have all our ducks in a row and are just waiting for the word to go. We helped Chaplain Pender baptize 186 men"Praise the Lord". We had over 600 Salvations and lots and lots of clients rededicate their lives to Christ. We have any were from 120 to 200 for church every Sunday. It depends if it is inside or outside. If we have church on the inside, we need to two services because we have NO Chapel on the unit. WE NEED A CHAPEL !!!!!!!!1 One of the things I would like to tell you is on October 5, 6 & 7, we had a revival at the unit. Preaching was ex-client of T.R. Havins Unit, Bro. David Smith. Bro. David owns his own plumbing company now, and he is a licensed ordained minister and recording artist. He writes and records his own songs. He along with his lovely wife Bobbie was here. We provided meals and lodging for them. What a blessing that was. be in prayer for the revival that we will have again this year in October. Well, we are thru with the year 2001 and what a powerful move God has made. I can hardly wait to see what He has in store for the 2002. IN THIS WORLD OF GIVE AND TAKE ARE YOU WILLING TO GIVE WHAT IT TAKES. IF SO, CALL US. God Bless.
